Dr. Shaantanu Shankar is an expert in geopolitics and macroeconomic risk in Sub-Saharan Africa, with a focus on the Horn of Africa and the Sahel regions. With almost ten years of academic and professional experience covering the region, Shaantanu has demonstrated the ability to conduct economic forecasting in conflict-ridden and crisis-prone economies such as Ethiopia, Mali and Sudan. Aside from his role as an analyst, Shaantanu also has experience in academia as a guest lecturer at the Manipal University and the University of Mumbai, and has presented papers at several national and international seminars. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Mumbai, where he specialised on various aspects of economic and financial engagement of the BRICS in Sub-Saharan Africa and is fluent in English, and Hindi.
