Background

Laveena is part of the Industry Briefing team, where she specialises in the information and communications technology (ICT) sector. She contributes to market reports and analysis across 60 countries with a keen interest in the Asia-Pacific region. Her work focuses on segments such as mobile and internet services, mobile money platforms, smartphone manufacturers, equipment vendors, start-up investments and government regulations.

In her previous role Laveena worked as a Companies Analyst for the firm’s Competitor Intelligence service. Prior to joining The Economist Intelligence Unit in late 2018, she was a senior business correspondent at an Indian magazine. She tracked corporate strategy and start-ups in India during her nearly five-year stint. She holds a post-graduate diploma in print journalism from the Asian College of Journalism and a Bachelor of Mass Media degree from Mumbai University.
