Assessing the impact of war in Ukraine and China’s “zero-covid” policy on the global economy

The war in Ukraine is affecting the global economy via higher commodity prices, supply-chain disruptions and worsening sentiment for both households and businesses. An overheating US economy and China’s ”zero-covid” policy will also weigh heavily on the global economy this year. We now forecast that global growth will stand at 2.8% this year, sharply down from our pre-war forecast of 3.9%.Our latest report explores some of the key issues affecting the global economy.
