A REPORT BY THE ECONOMIST INTELLIGENCE UNIT

Will Latin America take advantage of supply chain shifts?

The coronavirus pandemic has exposed the fragilities of globalised supply chains, raising the possibility that many will be localised over the coming decade to reduce operational risks. Given its proximity to the US market, localised supply chains would present a big opportunity for Latin America where, aside from Mexico, the region has not really been part of the boom in global supply chains in recent decades.

Utilising data from The Economist Intelligence Unit’s business environment rankings, our latest report examines which economies are best placed to gain from nearshoring, in contrast to countries where the opportunity would likely be missed.
